Short-Term Visit Visa to Germany (Schengen Visa Type C): Health Insurance and Invitation Letter – Key Requirements

The Schengen Type C visa is usually issued for family visits, tourism, or business, allowing stays up to 90 days within 180 days. Two critical factors for approval are health insurance and the invitation letter.

1. Health Insurance – strict conditions

• Must cover the entire stay (entry to exit).

• Minimum coverage €30,000 for medical emergencies, repatriation, death.

• Valid across all Schengen states.

• Issued in applicant’s name, not host’s.

• From a recognized EU/German insurer.

2. Invitation Letter (Einladungsschreiben)
