Medical Data Transfer Document under GDPR
If you receive treatment in Germany and want to share medical reports, images, or lab results with your doctor abroad, strict EU data protection rules (GDPR) apply.
What is the medical data transfer document? In German it is called: “Einwilligung zur Datenübermittlung an Dritte im Ausland” – meaning “Consent to transfer data to a third party outside the EU.”
This document:
must be signed personally by the patient
authorizes the hospital or doctor to send specific data to a non-EU recipient
specifies exactly: type of data, method of transfer, destination, and purpose
