How to find an emergency pharmacy nearby (Notdienst-Apotheke)?
What does “Notdienst” mean?
“Notdienst” refers to the pharmacy emergency service that allows you to obtain medicines outside normal opening hours:
at night
at weekends (Wochenende)
on public holidays (Feiertage)
Each region in Germany is required to provide a certain number of pharmacies on emergency duty every day on a rotating basis.
️When are emergency pharmacies open?
From 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following day.
On public holidays: they are open all day.
Note:
There is usually a fixed emergency service fee (Notdienstgebühr):
2.50 euros, payable even if the medicine is covered by health insurance.
