Only essential personnel remain to maintain operational capability, with the decision taken in coordination with international partners.
According to Der Spiegel, German soldiers were flown to Jordan on February 18, 2026, after US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with a military strike.
Earlier in February, the Bundeswehr had already withdrawn some troops from Erbil, stating that the situation was under close monitoring.
