Felix Banachak, leader of Germany’s Green Party, has sharply criticized the practices of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), comparing them to Nazi methods. In a podcast interview, he accused ICE of “stripping people of their humanity” by forcibly removing them from their daily lives.
Banachak said that anyone who resists ICE agents “is simply shot,” drawing parallels to the SA and SS militias in Germany before Adolf Hitler’s rise to power.
He also attacked President Donald Trump for continuing to question the results of the 2020 presidential election, calling it a sign of disregard for democratic principles. Banachak described the administration’s actions as “classic traits of authoritarian regimes,” accusing it of covering up street violence despite clear video evidence.
His remarks came amid intensified deportation policies, with thousands of federal agents deployed to Minneapolis and Minnesota. These measures sparked protests, particularly after two U.S. citizens were shot dead by federal officers.
