The German government has reiterated its opposition to a proposal within the European Union to designate Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization. Berlin stated that such a step could only be taken on the basis of a binding court ruling.

Government sources indicated that Germany currently sees no sufficient legal grounds to classify the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist group, despite calls from several EU member states citing human rights violations and regional military activities.

The government emphasized that it continues to review all legal options but insists on adhering to European legal standards.
