Increase in Threshold for Investigation Committees in Rhineland-Palatinate

The AfD has secured one-fifth of the seats in Rhineland-Palatinate. In response, other parties in the state parliament have decided to raise the threshold for establishing investigation committees to a quarter of the seats. This decision will still be passed with the votes of the old parliament. However, critics warn that this could be a bad idea as it may further strengthen the influence of the AfD and restrict democratic oversight.
