“Signal of Solidarity”: Berlin Eases Arms Export Rules to Gulf States

 

Germany has announced a temporary easing of restrictions on exporting certain military equipment to Gulf states and Ukraine, citing the war in Iran. The exports will cover air and naval defense systems, including mine protection and clearance measures. The Ministry of Economy stated that a new six-month general license has taken effect, allowing faster export permits without prior applications. Economy Minister Katrina Reiche said the move sends a “signal of solidarity,” stressing that Iran’s indiscriminate attacks on Gulf states have created an urgent need for defensive equipment.
