German CDU leader Friedrich Merz has called for an end to the use of pseudonyms on the internet, urging that users should be required to appear under their real names. He argued that politicians engage openly under their identities, and critics should be expected to do the same.
Merz also warned of the dangers posed by artificial intelligence, describing attempts to undermine the intellectual foundation of liberal society through algorithms and targeted influence.
He expressed concern about the growing use of social media among children and teenagers, supporting a ban for those under 16 and mandatory age verification on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
Additionally, Merz urged a shift in workplace culture, calling for greater seriousness and productivity to safeguard Germany’s prosperity in the long term.
