China surpasses the US to become Germany’s top trading partner

Germany’s Federal Statistical Office announced that China reclaimed its position as Germany’s largest trading partner in 2025, with trade volume between Berlin and Beijing reaching €251.8 billion ($296.3 billion).

This marked a 2.1% increase compared to the previous year, restoring China to the top spot it held continuously from 2016 to 2023, before slipping to second place behind the US in 2024.

Meanwhile, German car exports to the US fell by 17.8%, impacted by tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on EU imports.
