Germany’s men achieved a historic sweep in the Olympic bobsleigh event in Cortina d’Ampezzo, taking all three medals.
Johannes Lochner from Berchtesgaden crowned his career by winning Olympic gold for the first time, finishing clearly ahead of teammate Francesco Friedrich. Adam Ammour secured bronze, completing the German podium.
With brakeman Georg Fleischhauer, Lochner dominated all four runs, finishing 1.34 seconds ahead – the largest margin in men’s Olympic bobsleigh since 1980.
Germany’s success in ice track sports continues: the luge team has won four medals, skeleton athletes six, and in bobsleigh the tally now stands at four after Laura Nolte claimed silver. More medals may follow in the women’s events later this week.
