Navalny poisoning: UK considers new sanctions, Russia calls it fabrication

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said the UK is considering tougher sanctions on Moscow after a joint investigation by five European countries concluded that opposition leader Alexei Navalny was poisoned in prison.

  • The investigation, conducted by the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, confirmed through laboratory analysis that Navalny was killed with a deadly toxin.

  • Cooper told the Munich Security Conference: “We continue to consider coordinated measures, including increasing sanctions on the Russian regime.”

  • Russia rejected the accusations, calling them “fabrication and a media campaign.”
