Germany: Public service agreement – 5.8% pay rise and strike ban until 2028

Unions Ver.di and dbb Beamtenbund reached a deal with the German states’ employers.

  • Wages will rise by 5.8% in three stages, with a minimum of €100 per month.

  • About 925,000 employees are directly covered, with up to 2.2 million people benefiting including civil servants and retirees.

  • The contract runs until January 2028, ruling out strikes during this period.

  • Trainees and junior staff will receive an extra €150.
