ISIS Prisoners in Iraq: Germans Form Largest European Group

Iraqi authorities revealed that among ISIS prisoners recently transferred from Syria to Iraq by U.S. forces, 27 are German nationals, making them the largest European group.

In total, 5,046 ISIS detainees have arrived in Iraq, with more than 900 from Europe, Asia, and Australia. These include 10 from the Netherlands, 9 from the UK, 4 from Sweden, 3 from France, 13 Australians, over 130 Russians, and 160 Turks.

Iraq’s judiciary has already begun investigations into 1,387 detainees handed over during the U.S. military operation.
