German media outlets have accompanied Syrian families who decided to return to their homeland after years of living in Germany.
In interviews, the returnees described their emotions upon entering their towns and villages. One of them said: “I felt goosebumps when I entered my city.”
The return took place under voluntary return programs that provide financial support to those wishing to leave Germany and go back to their countries of origin.
Despite the difficult situation in Syria, many of the returnees expressed their determination to rebuild their lives there.
