Germany: Lufthansa Pilots and Crew to Strike Thursday, Flight Cancellations Expected

Publication date: 2026-02-11

The pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit has announced a full-day strike at Lufthansa on Thursday, running from 00:01 until 23:59.

The strike will affect both Lufthansa’s core passenger flights and Lufthansa Cargo operations from German airports.

The dispute centers on demands for higher company contributions to the pension system covering around 4,800 cockpit staff.

The strike will also include training flights, standby services, and simulator sessions.

Lufthansa management has rejected the union’s demands, citing rising costs and weak profitability in premium travel.

Passengers are warned to expect widespread cancellations and delays.
