Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid, executive director of Americans for Justice in Palestine, stated during the Mawazin program on February 11, 2026, that Israel’s moral legitimacy has effectively been stripped away in Western public opinion.
He highlighted that the Gaza war triggered deep fractures within both U.S. parties regarding support for Israel.
According to Abu Irshaid, 79% of the Democratic base now views Israel negatively. He cited Kamala Harris’s admission in her book that the Biden administration’s stance on the Gaza war contributed to her 2024 election loss.
On the Republican side, dissenting voices have emerged even within the MAGA movement, including Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Steve Bannon, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who are asking: “Is it America First or Israel First?”
He also pointed to grassroots campaigns challenging pro-Israel figures such as Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, and House Speaker Mike Johnson.
