German authorities have uncovered a large-scale fraud network involving language and naturalization exams.
According to prosecutors in Nuremberg, several individuals took exams on behalf of others in exchange for money, using forged documents.
The main suspect, a 39-year-old Iraqi, allegedly recruited “substitutes” to sit the exams. The fraudulent certificates were later used in residency, naturalization, and driver’s license procedures.
Fees for these services ranged between €2,500 and €6,000 per case. Searches in Nuremberg and Hamm uncovered forged documents, cash, and narcotics.
