French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking to European newspapers including the Financial Times and Le Monde, issued a stark warning about Europe’s continued economic reliance on the United States.
Macron cautioned that the U.S. could economically “sweep” Europe if the EU fails to act decisively. He urged the creation of large-scale joint euro bonds to finance major investments in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, energy transition, and defense.
He stressed that only through massive collective investment can Europe safeguard its competitiveness and strengthen its strategic autonomy.
