German police announced the arrest of a 12-year-old boy suspected of involvement in the killing of 14-year-old Yusuf in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia.
According to Bild, citing security sources, the suspect holds German nationality. Investigators believe the crime was premeditated and that the boy acted alone based on initial findings.
Police identified the suspect after analyzing data from the victim’s mobile phone. Autopsy results confirmed Yusuf was fatally stabbed.
Due to the suspect’s age, prosecutors and police refrained from releasing further details about his identity or the circumstances of the crime, citing child protection and privacy laws.
Yusuf’s body was discovered on January 28 near a forest lake in Dormagen. Authorities had previously offered a €10,000 reward for information leading to the perpetrator before the arrest was made.
