A regional train operated by Deutsche Bahn traveling from Hof to Munich was forced to stop in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab, Bavaria, on Friday afternoon after smoke rose from the locomotive.
According to federal police, a technical defect prevented the train from continuing its journey, leaving around 300 passengers temporarily trapped inside.
Fire brigades from nearby areas evacuated the passengers safely and transported them by bus to Weiden station, where they continued their trip.
Train services toward Hof resumed quickly, while the southbound route remained closed for a longer period due to the incident.
