Authorities in Bavaria rescued an elderly man from a major fraud attempt after he received a shocking phone call. Scammers convinced him he needed to hand over gold bars worth hundreds of thousands of euros to settle alleged claims.
The fraudsters pressured him with a fabricated story, but bank staff and police intervened in time, preventing him from losing his entire savings.
Police warned that such “shock calls” are becoming increasingly common, targeting especially older citizens. They urged the public to report suspicious calls immediately.
