Markus Söder, leader of the CSU in Bavaria, has called for major reforms in Germany’s labor market and social systems.
He argued that adding one extra working hour per week is not excessive but rather a necessary step to boost productivity and support the economy.
Söder also demanded the abolition of early retirement at 63 and stricter rules on sick leave, including ending the option of obtaining it by phone.
His remarks come as Germany faces economic pressures from an aging population and a shortage of skilled workers, sparking expected debates among trade unions and political parties.
