Germany’s national handball team booked its place in the European Championship final after defeating Croatia 31–28, ending a seven-year drought without an official win against them.

Lukas Zerbe stood out with six goals, while goalkeeper Andreas Wolff delivered crucial saves that allowed Germany to extend its lead to 26–19 after halftime before sealing the victory.

This marks Germany’s first final appearance since winning the title in 2016 under coach Dagur Sigurdsson, who this time was on the Croatian bench.

On Sunday, Germany will face Denmark, a team that has not lost to Germany since 2016. Denmark triumphed 39–26 in the 2024 Olympic final in Paris and also beat Germany 31–26 in the group stage of this tournament.

Despite Denmark’s dominance, German player Justus Fischer insisted: “Gold is possible. If everything comes together, we can beat Denmark. I’m convinced we have the skills to do it.”
