German Foreign Minister: Europe Must Stand on Its Own Defensively, Independent of Washington

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated in Stockholm that Europe cannot remain dependent on the United States forever for defense.

Together with his Swedish counterpart, he announced that Germany and Sweden will allocate 5% of their GDP to defense.

Wadephul emphasized that Europe must be able to defend itself with conventional means, even though reliance on the American nuclear umbrella will continue for now.
