A new incident of bank vault theft occurred in Wilhelmshaven, just weeks after the massive Gelsenkirchen case.
Police confirmed that three suspects fled on foot after being discovered by bank employees during the act. The incident took place at the Sparkasse branch on Preußenstraße.
Investigators reported that only a limited number of safety deposit boxes were opened, estimated in the lower double digits. Affected customers will be notified directly by the bank.
The case recalls the December 2025 Gelsenkirchen heist, where approximately €30 million was stolen from 3,200 deposit boxes, affecting more than 2,500 clients.
