A study conducted by the Center for Islamic Theology shows that Islamic religious education in schools across North Rhine-Westphalia enjoys broad acceptance among students, parents, and school administrations.
More than 31,000 students in 247 schools currently participate in these classes, introduced in 2012. Most consider the subject relevant to daily life and engaging.
The state’s Ministry of Education emphasized that Islamic religious education has become a permanent part of the school system, aiming to strengthen social integration and provide structured, recognized religious instruction.
