German Defense Minister responds to Trump’s insult against German soldiers

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius strongly rejected US President Donald Trump’s remarks belittling the role of German soldiers in Afghanistan. He stressed that Germany paid a heavy price, with 59 soldiers and three police officers killed, and many more wounded.

Pistorius reminded that the Bundeswehr had stood alongside allies since 2001 in the fight against Islamist terrorism. He urged Trump to retract his statements and show respect for the sacrifices and contributions of German soldiers.
