A new poll reveals that most Germans view US President Donald Trump as a threat to their country.
The survey, conducted by the Insa Institute for the newspaper “Bild am Sonntag” and involving around 1,000 participants, found that 61% of respondents consider Trump a danger to Germany. Meanwhile, 24% see him as an ally, and 15% expressed no opinion.
According to the poll, 52% of Germans believe their government should adopt a tougher stance toward Trump’s policies. In contrast, 31% favor expanding cooperation with him, while 17% remain undecided.
The survey was carried out between January 22 and 23. It comes amid growing European criticism of US policy, particularly after the Greenland crisis, when Trump threatened Denmark with a trade war and possibly military action if the island was not handed over. European nations saw this as a serious challenge to the strategic partnership with the United States that has lasted for more than seven decades.
