The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced it will relocate around 300 jobs from its headquarters in New York to Bonn, Germany.
An additional 100 positions will be transferred to Madrid, though no timeline has been specified.
German Foreign Minister Johann Fadevoll welcomed the decision, saying it strengthens Bonn’s role as a UN hub and sends an important political signal of trust in Germany’s foreign policy.
UNDP operates in about 170 countries and territories, employing roughly 22,000 staff, with more than 19,000 working in country offices and regional centers.
Bonn is already one of the largest UN sites in Europe alongside Geneva and Vienna, hosting 27 UN agencies with about 1,200 employees, including the UNFCCC Secretariat, the UN Volunteers programme (UNV), and the UNCCD Secretariat.
