Germany has carried out another deportation of a Syrian citizen convicted of criminal offenses, marking the second such case since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
According to the German Press Agency (dpa), the 32-year-old man had repeatedly clashed with the law and was sentenced in 2020 to several years in prison for drug-related crimes and assault.
A spokesperson for the German Interior Ministry told Bild newspaper that “another Syrian criminal was deported today to Syria on a scheduled flight.” The man had been serving his sentence in Burg Prison in Saxony-Anhalt before being transferred to the airport.
