Germany launches online platform to tackle bureaucracy complaints

Publication date: 2025-12-12

The German government has announced the launch of a new digital platform called “Einfach machen” (“Simplify things”), allowing citizens and businesses to report cases they consider excessive or unreasonable bureaucracy. The initiative aims to remove obstacles and streamline regulations.

Carsten Fellberger, Minister for Digitalization and State Modernization, said the goal is “to give people, citizens, companies, and even administrative employees the opportunity to provide feedback and help us understand concrete examples of problems and how things can be simplified.”

The pilot version of the platform was developed in cooperation with Economy Minister Catrina Reiche and Labor Minister Bärbel Bas. Fellberger noted that costs will remain “in the low millions” until early next year. He emphasized that the platform will serve as a central contact point for citizens and businesses concerned about bureaucracy, with the aim of turning feedback into a practical basis for reforming rules and procedures.
