Publication date: 2025-12-03

A Spanish tourist who was seriously injured in a knife attack at Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial earlier this year testified before the city’s Higher Regional Court on Wednesday (December 3, 2025).

The 31-year-old traveled from Spain to attend the trial of a 19-year-old defendant charged with attempted murder and terrorism in connection with the February 21 incident.

The victim stated he “really never saw” the attacker before being grabbed from behind and stabbed, while the assailant shouted words “related to God.”

He had been visiting the memorial site with friends, which commemorates the six million Jews murdered by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust, when the attack occurred. He suffered life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery.

The perpetrator, a Syrian refugee, was arrested near the site shortly after the assault, his hands covered in blood.
