Syrian refugee Sandra Aloush, residing in France with a ten-year residence permit, has filed a formal complaint against Germany’s Interior Ministry and the Federal Police. The case stems from June 16, 2025, when she was stopped in Kehl during a train journey from Strasbourg to Berlin and subjected to what she described as humiliating and violent treatment. Aloush stated she was forced to provide extra documents despite showing her French residence card and refugee passport, then taken by force to a police station where she was compelled to undress completely for a body search. She was later returned to the French side. Human rights groups supporting her claim argue the incident violates EU law and reflects systemic discriminatory practices against migrants at Germany’s internal borders.
