Administrative courts in Berlin and Ansbach (Bavaria) are seeing a growing number of cases filed by Afghan citizens against the German government. Many of them received admission pledges under Germany’s federal resettlement program due to specific threats, yet remain stranded in Pakistan for months awaiting visas. Since mid-May, the Berlin Administrative Court has received at least 117 urgent applications. In 49 cases, rulings favored the applicants, often obliging the German government to issue visas, or at least make a decision. Eighteen applications were rejected, while 41 remained pending as of October 31. A court spokesperson noted that the figures may not be complete.
