Federal Government Strengthens Measures Against Wildfires

This year, wildfires and land fires in Germany could reach record numbers again, posing significant challenges for the authorities.

The responsibility for combating these fires lies mainly with the federal states and municipalities. However, many of these local authorities are overwhelmed by the increasing demands and frequent deployments. To provide support, the federal government has implemented various measures, including providing additional financial resources, training emergency personnel, and improving cooperation between different levels of administration. Experts, however, question whether these measures are sufficient to effectively combat the looming threat.
