Germany’s Interior Ministry announced that the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (domestic intelligence) will be granted new powers to combat espionage, sabotage, and terrorism in cyberspace.
The agency will be able not only to monitor foreign intelligence operations but also to disrupt or manipulate cyberattacks. A joint center against hybrid threats will also be established, bringing together intelligence services, police, federal states, and operators of critical infrastructure, with the German army joining if necessary.
