Germany: Berlin Resists Trump’s Pressure, Rules Out NATO Involvement in Hormuz Crisis

Foreign Minister Johann Fadevol stated that Germany does not see a role for NATO in dealing with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that the waterway lies outside the alliance’s responsibilities. He added that any operation there would be “out of scope” and require unanimous approval from all members. Lawmakers in the Bundestag criticized President Donald Trump’s demands, while experts agree NATO intervention is highly unlikely.
