Germany: Government Considers Ending Funding for Independent Asylum Counseling

 

The German government is currently considering halting funding for independent counseling programs for asylum seekers. Human rights groups and opposition parties have strongly criticized the move, warning that it would weaken refugees’ rights and leave them more dependent on official authorities.
