Report: Germany Becomes World’s Fourth Largest Arms Exporter

According to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Germany rose from fifth to fourth place among the world’s top exporters of heavy weapons between 2021 and 2025, surpassing China. German exports increased by 15% compared to 2016–2020, accounting for 5.7% of global arms trade. About a quarter of shipments went to Ukraine. Europe was the main destination (41%), followed by the Middle East (33%) and Asia/Oceania (17%). Germany’s imports of heavy weapons also surged by 914% compared to the previous period.
