German police announced on Monday morning (March 2, 2026) that the suspect in last week’s stabbing attack at Würzburg’s main train station was found dead in his prison cell.

  • Authorities in Lower Franconia reported the man was discovered lifeless at 6:40 a.m. in pre-trial detention.

  • Initial findings suggest suicide, though investigations are ongoing.

  • The suspect, a 35-year-old Afghan national, had been detained after attacking three men aged 51, 55, and 68 at Würzburg station.
