Germany: Labor Market Crisis Continues – Over 3 Million Unemployed

 

Germany’s Federal Employment Agency reported 3.07 million unemployed people in February 2026, the highest figure in twelve years.

• Compared to January, unemployment fell slightly by 15,000.

• Year-on-year, however, the number rose by 81,000.

• The unemployment rate stood at 6.5%, down 0.1 percentage points.

• Analysts warn that the labor market remains under pressure, with no signs of the usual seasonal recovery.
