Germany: New Legal Tool Forces Suspects to Prove Wealth Legitimacy

The German government has introduced an unprecedented measure in its fight against organized crime: suspects will be required to prove the legality of their wealth and assets. Inspired by Italy’s anti-mafia model, the law aims to dismantle the financial foundations of criminal clans. Finance, Interior, and Justice ministers stressed that the state “will no longer tolerate loopholes,” emphasizing stronger powers to seize suspicious assets.
