Germany: Navy Receives Israeli-Made “Blue Whale” Drone Submarine

 

The German Navy announced it has received an unmanned submarine of the “Blue Whale” type, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries in cooperation with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. The submarine arrived at Eckernförde port in northern Germany and is designed for reconnaissance and detecting “hybrid threats at sea.” The German military described it as the largest and most advanced unmanned underwater vehicle to date, tested in the Baltic Sea, a hotspot of tension between Russia and NATO since the war in Ukraine began in 2022.
