Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania created one of the most tense moments at this year’s Berlin Film Festival.
During the “Cinema for Peace” awards ceremony, she refused to accept the prize for “Most Valuable Film,” awarded to her work The Voice of Hind Rajab.
She left the trophy behind in the hall, stating that she did not want an award that beautifies violence and genocide, but rather a reminder of bloodshed instead of an honor for art.
