Germany: Car insurance premiums rise again in 2025

 

A survey by Verivox revealed that car insurance costs in Germany increased once more in 2025.

• More than 60% of customers faced higher premiums across liability, partial coverage, and full coverage policies.

• About 22.3% experienced indirect increases, as their premiums did not decrease despite accident-free records.

• The rise was most pronounced in full coverage, with over 65% reporting higher payments.

• Roughly half of liability insurance holders also saw increases.

• Insurers cited rising spare parts and repair costs as the main reason.

• Industry data showed that German insurers returned to profitability in 2025 after losses in 2023 and 2024.
