This city tops Germany’s violence hotspots in 2025 – 980 stabbings and 2,200 sexual crimes in trains and stations

According to Bild am Sonntag citing federal police data, German train stations and trains recorded about 980 stabbings and 2,200 sexual crimes in 2025.

  • Leipzig Central Station ranked first with 859 violent crimes.

  • Dortmund Central Station followed with 735 cases, and Berlin Central Station with 654 cases.

  • Other high-risk stations included Cologne (640 cases) and Hanover (612 cases).

  • The figures reignited debate over railway safety, especially after a fatal stabbing of a ticket inspector earlier in February.
