Germany Rejects Joining Trump’s “Peace Council”

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed skepticism about U.S. President Donald Trump’s newly established “Peace Council.” Merz stated that Germany has “questions that need clarification” and indicated that Berlin does not plan to join the initiative.

The German government views the council critically, arguing that it lies outside established international frameworks such as NATO and the EU. Germany prefers coordination within Europe and with transatlantic partners rather than creating parallel institutions.
