The organizers of the Munich Security Conference announced that invitations to Iranian government representatives for this year’s session (February 13–15) have been revoked, citing Iran’s violent crackdown on protests.
A spokesperson stated that under current circumstances, Iranian participation is not appropriate. Germany’s Foreign Ministry also stressed that inviting Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi would be unacceptable given the bloody repression.
The Munich Security Conference is an annual diplomatic event that brings together leading figures from politics and industry to discuss global issues.
