German authorities carried out extensive raids on Thursday across several federal states, targeting dozens of nail salons suspected of tax evasion, illegal employment, and human trafficking.
More than 1,000 officers from the police, customs, and tax authorities took part in the operation, searching 49 residential and commercial properties.
Investigations focus on a 56-year-old man from Düsseldorf, believed to be running a network employing undocumented foreign workers, mostly from Vietnam. Authorities estimate the financial damage at more than seven million euros.
